Screen Resolution Adjustment
Read this entire window unless you know exactly how to reset your
display parameters.
The objective is to run as high a resolution (up to 1280x1024) as
possible.
Close all windows except this one.
Include any minimized in the status bar at bottom-of-screen.
This step is important if something goes wrong.
RightClick
anywhere on the Desktop outside this window...a menu appears.
LeftClick
Properties in the menu...the Display Properties
window appears.
Select the Settings tab under
Display Properties.
Jot down the current Desktop Area or Screen Resolution
setting.
In the Desktop Area or
Screen Resolution box select either 1280x1024
or 1024x768 pixels.
LeftClick the
Test button if it exists.
If not, LeftClick
OK.
DO NOT
ClickOn OK unless there is
NOT a Test button
!!!
The display will reset to the new resolution for 10 seconds and return
to the old setting.
If the display is blank or unreadable during the 10 second test
period, try lowering the Refresh Frequency (if adjustable)
and Test again.
If the new display setting is acceptable, Apply it and
LeftClick OK.
If you are confused at this point, close the
Display Properties window and get help.
If neither screen resolution allows a complete image display,
there are probably toolbars and status lines crowding the top and
bottom of the browser display area.
Try maximizing the view window.
If you do not need all the extra toolbar lines, use whatever means
the vendor provides, if any, to remove them.
If you cannot easily view this website, email me with your screen
resolution setting, browser name (Internet Explorer, FoxFire, etc.)
and toolbar line count, at both the top and bottom of your browser
screen.
Use the webmaster email link at the bottom of our website pages.
If you lose your display screen,
don't panic.
Assuming that you closed all windows at the start, you haven't lost
any data.
Reboot your machine in Safe Mode.
You may have to power-down and power-up to accomplish this.
Reboot holding the F8 key down until the computer beeps,
release F8 and select Safe Mode from the selection list using the
using the keyboard (mouse will be inactive).
Logon as "Administrator",
RightClick on the Desktop and
reset the display to your old settings using the procedure above.
Reboot normally.
